Over the last decade, he has served as a Subject Matter Expert to the California Acupuncture Board, as well as an expert witness and consultant in civil malpractice cases representing both plaintiffs and defendants, regarding allegations including pneumothorax injuries, nerve trauma, burns, slip-and-fall injuries, sexual misconduct, and out-of-scope procedures and advertising.

He has also served as a consultant regarding allegations of insurance fraud. Expert has also served as a California- licensed acupuncturist in continuous clinical practice since 2003. He has taught as an associate professor and clinical supervisor at the Masters level since 2005, as an approved continuing education provider for the CAB since 2015, and as a doctoral instructor since 2017.

His areas of specialization include acupuncture/electro acupuncture (including seven-star, lancet, and 3-edged needles); heat therapies, including heat lamps, hot packs and moxibustion; manual therapies including Traditional Chinese suction cupping, tui na and gua sha, and therapeutic exercise, as well as medical ethics, medical documentation and report-writing, recognition and management of serious urgent medical conditions, and clinical safety/orientation training.
