Expert has amassed over 25 years considerable research achievements and experience over a wide gamut of research interests but predominantly in the field of aerosol science and environmental chemistry. The research has encompassed the use of a wide variety of techniques and has also entailed extensive theoretical analyses of both experimental and computational data. He is author or coauthor of more than 200 papers, over 100 of which have been published in peer reviewed journals. He has participated in EUROTRAC and has recently collaborated in several Framework V and VI projects (NICE, CADENOX, SUB-AERO, URBAN-AERO, URBAN-EXPOSURE, NANOCAP). His research is funded through grants, contracts and studentships from Research Councils, industry and government departments. Expert is the past President of the Aerosol Society. Current research is centered in four main areas: physico-chemical properties of aerosols; indoor air quality and health impacts of aerosols; applied aerosol science; and environment – society interactions.

Impactor design. Evaluation and identification of indoor air pollutants.Development and application of molecular approaches for the investigation of airborne bacteria; Transmission losses in tubing.
