Expert in Allergenicity Assessment of Genetically Modified Foods
Expert ID: 725131
California, USA
Extensive knowledge of protein extraction, purifications and standardization of protocols. Comparative proteomics analysis by Two dimensional analysis electrophoresis has been done to analyze the GM and native plants proteins profile at the level of proteins and by IgE Immunoblot with mustard positive patient’s sera.
In-vitro digestibility and heat stability of proteins was also assessed.
Safety of foods developed by biotechnology has been studied. Animal model was developed by systemic exposure of GM and native plant protein in Balb/c mice to study the immunological responses. Tissue histolopathological analysis was done to study the intracellular inflammation. Spleen cells isolation for Th1/Th2 cytokines analyses was performed.
Allergenicity and protein toxicity of purified proteins was also assessed using in-vitro methods and animal model studies.
He consulted the labs for standardizing animal model studies for immune response analysis. He also consulted for mutational analyses for making hypoallergens. He consulted labs of plant biotech for potential genes in transgenic crops and also the ways of do their initial assessment and also the safety assessment of the modified transgenic crops expressing a foreign gene.
