Expert has applied his business and engineering training in the development of packaging systems (cans, bottles, and kegs) within the brewing industry. These designs have ranged from bottles or cans developed for specific brand related objectives, to the rationalization of multiple brands into a common package formats or sizes.

Expert has led projects to meet marketing objectives of growth objectives while optimizing the key operational factors that enhanced the profitability.

Expert was a member of the original design team for the standard mold bottle (SMB) used within the Canadian brewing industry. Expert chaired the SMB technical committee for many years.

Expert has modified existing packaging equipment to work with new materials, and installed new packaging lines for specialty packages. He managed the implementation of new bottles, cans, and secondary packaging. He is experienced in the design of high-speed bottle and can lines, as well as intermediate Craft brewing scale equipment.

Expert was the Manager of Packaging, Cooling, and Dispense Equipment Development for the North American operation of InBev. His department managed all stages in the development of a new package, ranging from concept feasibility studies through development, implementation and post launch project evaluations. Expert also managed the material specifications for all existing packaging materials and coordinated the approval process for any physical change to a bottle, can, or carton.

Expert helped develop and standardize a process for all requests made to upper management to change a package design or specification. This process provided a standard format that listed all the risks and benefits from each stakeholder when making the change. It provided feedback from management if further input was required, and was used for each milestone on major developmental projects.

Expert has modified package designs for both domestic and imported beer brands to ensure they met various Liquor Board regulations within Canada and the USA. Expert lead various developmental projects to optimize the packaging material specifications for both bottle and can line operations. As the internal expert in packaging material manufacturing processes Expert conducted several audits of new and existing can, bottle, and carton suppliers for both procurement and quality assurance departments.

As a consultant, Expert assisted a foreign glass bottle manufacturer in meeting the new supplier approval process for the Brewers Association of Canada. He conducted the plant audit and completed the production trial evaluations. Expert revised the new bottle supplier approval process for the Brewers Association of Canada. He developed the production trial testing procedure and established the acceptance criteria required.

As a consultant, Expert has assisted brewers in the development of both their packaging material specifications and finished product packaging standards.

He has negotiated exclusive agreements for carton designs, and royalty agreements for the development of packaging inspection equipment.

Expert has successfully managed a variety of projects, ranging from completely new package introductions to the optimization of existing package designs used in multiple packaging operations.
