Expert has expertise in the microstructural characterisation of biomedical glasses and glass ceramics. She has alslo worked with biodegradable polymers and polymer composites. Her interests include dental glass ionomer cements as well as electrospun polymer scaffolds of PLLA and polyglutamic acid. She has used MAS-NMR spectroscopy to characterise amorphous and crystalline glasses that are used in dental glass ionomer cements. She has experience with natural fibre composites and has developed fire resistant wood composites. Recently she is working on the development of antibacterial ceramic coatings for biomedical applications.
