Request Expert

Expert has been active in the field of chemical, instrumental analysis, especially (capillary) gas chromatography for more than 35 years. His work has covered almost all aspects, both analytical as well as instrumental, from environmental control (water and air analysis) to chemicals production (process and product analysis), working for leading instrument companies like Chrompack, Varian and Bruker. Where the original focus was in Petrochemical analysis more recently he also worked in food analysis using GC-MS.

Starting as a researcher in the earlier years he focused more on new international developments in the Years with Varian and Bruker. He managed a number of projects with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to create state of the art products. Expert strong interest in miniaturization of gas chromatography equipment.

KEY DEVELOPMENTS:
PIONA analyzer (special, unique phases; column configurations). Various petrochemical analyzers (a.o. Lowox). Numerous one-off systems. Micro-Gasifier. Micro-GC Instrument Control Specification. Micro-GC coupled to Differential Mobility Detector (FAIMS). Micro-GC, in board data handling. Working on: fast column temperature programming; high temperature injector; etc

Expert has developed a range of analyzers based on capillary and packed gas chromatography serving the hydrocarbon processing as well as the energy industry.

He has acted as a discussion partner to find solutions for specific problems in the micro-sensors, translating them to chromatography equivalents. He has worked with many petrochemical companies to define the chromatographic needs in their analytical lab.

Work History

Years Employer Title Department
Years: 2010 to 2013 Employer: Bruker BV, The Netherlands Title: Sr Scientist Department: R&D
Responsibilities:
Senior scientist R&D; responsible for new developments. As this started as an incomplete split-off from Varian, initially a lot of time was put in the completion of the portfolio. A new GC electronic platform was developed and successfully introduced.
Years Employer Title Department
Years: 2000 to 2010 Employer: Varian BV, The Netherlands Title: Sr Scientist Department: R&D
Responsibilities:
Senior scientist R&D; responsible for integration of new, external developments. My main interest was with the micro-GC in all its aspects. In this time a lot of hardware improvements were integrated. The Differential Mobility Detector, a FAIMS technology was integrated into the micro GC hardware. A stand-alone, process version of the micro-GC was developed.
Years Employer Title Department
Years: 1988 to 1999 Employer: Chrompack International, The Netherlands Title: Sr Scientist Department: R&D
Responsibilities:
Various positions: Application consultant, Petrochemical consultant, manager Petrochemical Analyzer Group. The activities covered all aspects from pure research to active sales, as well as managing courses to acquiring knowledge.
The last 2 years I was detached to Dubai to our agent, Gulf Scientific Corporation. I acted as manager Customer Support.
