ID: 729203 Pennsylvania, USA

Request Expert

Expert has been responsible for characterizing and developing silica based materials, in particular silica, silicate and zeolite catalyst supports and absorbents at his two employers, PQ Corporation and W.R. Grace. He used many modern analytical instruments for characterizing these materials. He managed an analytical chemistry department at PQ and was also a Senior Research Fellow. He is an author of 17 peer reviewed research publications and inventor of 5 patents. He worked with corporate engineering, sales, marketing and production personnel. He interfaced with corporate customers. Since retirement from PQ he has consulted with several clients on silica based materials and was an expert witness in a patent infringement case.

Expert is a retired physical chemist with 31 years of industrial chemical experience in the characterization of silica based materials and the development of new siliceous products and applications. In the course of his career, he has authored 17 peer reviewed papers, been an inventor of 5 patents, chaired technical symposia and reviewed, for technical journals, the submitted papers of other scientists.
Expert is currently the President of a chemical consulting company. He has consulted for corporations involving silica/silicate based applications. He was an expert witness in a patent infringement suit.

He was an expert witness in a patent infringement case involving manufacture of a precipitated silica. He arranged for testing of opponent's material and evaluated test results, then wrote an expert report. He was deposed by opponent's counsel but case did not go to trial. He advised a manufacturer of photovoltaic silicon cells on how to dispose of a silicate waste stream. He evaluated the properties of a precipitated silica used in rubber tire manufacture and also evaluated the manufacturing facility for making this product. He evaluated the manufacture of food grade magnesium silicate, analyzed test results and suggested additional applications for this product. He worked on a project to assist a precipitated silica manufacturer on how raw materials might affect product performance.
