One of her areas of expertise are factors related to the initiation and progression of osteoarthritis. She has conducted scientific research on the in vivo loading environment of articular cartilage at the knee in health and disease. Her work also included medical imaging of articular cartilage as well as analysis of biomarkers for metabolic activity and degenerative joint disease. She has also been involved in the design of a clinical trial related to osteoarthritis.

She has conducted research and consulted on the development of load altering interventions and served as an adviser on the development of an activity monitor and sports coaching equipment.

Her academic training relates to different aspects of biomechanics. She has worked in the areas of sports biomechanics, footwear design, orthopaedic biomechanics and has employed a range of biomechanical measurement techniques including gait analysis, electromyography, pressure sensors, activity monitors, skin fold measurements, treadmills, force plates.

Her main expertise is the broad area of gait analysis. She has focused on technical issues and the mathematical background of gait analysis as part of her education and has since performed a range of scientific studies utilizing this measurement technique. She has expertise in both kinematic and kinetic aspects of human movement.

She is consulting a sports equipment company on movement and loading related questions and initiates contacts with other researchers. She has consulted a biomedical device company on the design of an accelerometer based activity monitor. She has conducted pilot experiments and related their measurements to functional knee loading. In addition, she has initiated contacts between the device company and other end users in academia and industry. She has provided scientific background to a medical device design group and consulted on the design of a device to slow down the rate of progression of osteoarthritis at the knee
