Expert has 30 years experience as a Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychologist. She has worked for the past 14 years (to February 2010) as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Head of Discipline within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) setting. Her main areas of clinical work with clients have been the assessment and treatment of trauma, working with bereavement, loss and abuse, as well as the psychometric assessment of children adolescents and adults. Expert's Doctoral Dissertation (2008) was an investigation of traumatised children's experiences of EMDR therapy and she is trained and experienced in using this approach with children, young people and adults. Expert Witness Experience
Expert has many years experience providing medico legal reports for adults, children and young people. Initially these were mostly for family matters such as access and custody disagreements and she has been cross examined in court in Australia in one or two such cases in the Family Court. More recently the majority of legal work has involved assessment of psychological injuries arising from accidents and injuries such as road traffic accidents. She has been cross examined in court on two occasions in the UK, one a care proceeding and the other a criminal case. She has more often been asked to come to court where discussions are held without the need for cross examination ensuing. She has been to the High Court for one such case.
Training / Seminars
Expert has developed and delivered a number of seminars and courses on the psychometric evaluation of children to provide advanced training for qualified clinical psychologists either in-house or under the auspices of a University. She most recently gave a brief presentation on the WISC IV for other mental health professionals at Ticehurst Hospital. Expert, together with colleagues put together a conference on Child Trauma at City University, London in February 2007. She has also presented a number of seminars on child trauma in other forums. Some years ago Expert developed a number of courses which she taught for the Australian Institute of Management, most notably Communication Skills, Conflict resolution, Stress Management, Interview Skills and Train the Trainer.
