Expert is an expert in data and voice communications-based systems, networking to include LANs and WANs, and PC technology. He has over 40 years of experience in the design, operation, and modification of complex, nationwide data and computer communications networks. He is adept in analog and digital communication systems, network design, network analysis, and operational control, including performance monitoring, equipment sizing, testing, and troubleshooting. His expertise also includes equipment selection based on life cycle and cost analysis, as well as budgeting, forecasting, economic and statistical analysis, and North American and European communications. He designed, developed and operated the first WWW Web server operated by a Federal Agency. He has over 20 years of Web server experience and won the Federal Director's Award for his efforts. He has also taught graduate school courses in the area of data communications and Web design for a period of 20 years.

He has authored 75 computer communications books on such topics as network design, modems, multiplexing, data compression, LAN security, and internetworking LANs and WANs. These books are used at over 30
colleges and universities for courses on data communications.

Expert managed the operation of a nationwide network in which over 80 LANs are connected to five mainframes via a WAN. He is the author of "Internetworking LANs and WANs," "Practical Network Design," and "LAN Performance (2nd Edition)," all published by John Wiley and Sons. Expert is experienced in setting up Internet connections via Token-Ring and Ethernet LANs. He has worked with FTP and WWW servers and is skilled in hypertext markup language (HTML) document creation. He is knowledgeable of the configuration of various software products including TCP/IP and IPX stacks.

Expert is proficient in the areas of data compression, optical disk utilization, and functional product specifications. He is also familiar with data compression products and digital networks and networking.

Expert's work in voice communications includes sizing PBXs, integrating voice and data transmission, and developing proposals for companies to economize on the cost of their voice and data networks.

Since 1990, Expert has served as a technical consultant to evaluate several laptop notebook acquisitions involving 1000+ portable computers. He developed several technical and cost evaluation techniques which were used to select vendors during a competitive bid process.

Expert's nearly 20 years of experience comes from a network operator system standpoint. Familiar with both Novell and NT and Windows computing, He has written several articles and books on client/server systems.

Knowledgeable of hardware and software used to protect network data, he has over 10 years of experience planning, designing, and implementing Internet firewall security systems.

Expert has been involved with the integration of IBM and compatible personal computers into corporate LANs and WANs since 1981. He developed consulting studies on most aspects of personal computing to include the establishment of help desks, technical centers, and acquisition plans.

Expert has over 30 years of programming experience using over 6 computer languages. His project experiences have ranged from business applications through complex scientific model development.

Expert has developed and conducted seminars covering data communication and personal computers in the US, Israel, South America, and Europe. He has also performed market research, established business plans, and prepared advertising literature in these areas.


Expert is a six-year user of different versions of Procomm software. He has written two books related to the software (Mastering Communications Software and Communicating with the IBM PC), which illustrates its use. He has recently finished the update to Understanding Data Communications, 5th Edition, which illustrates the new version of the software. He also set up an asynchronous communications server for LAN users to access Procomm.


Having worked extensively with both protocols, he incorporated detailed descriptions in his book Mastering Communications Software.


Expert has set up several BBS systems and has provided communications access via LANs, WANs, and public dial-in into each BBS.


Expert has several years of experience setting up firewalls and using data encryptors (16 years of operational control experience with the world's largest dial-in secured network certified by NSA). He is also the author of
Protecting LAN Resources.


He has over 20 years of experience using compression tools and writing compression routines. He is the author of Data and Image Compression, the 1st thru the 4th Edition, all published by Wiley.


Expert has worked on constructing, monitoring, planning Token-Ring Networks for more than six years. He is familiar with developing capacity models and has lectured on TRNs. Expert is the author of Token-Ring Networks published by Wiley.


Expert has been an expert witness at several trials and settlements. Unfortunately, his NDA's do not let him discuss the trials and settlements, however they were positive..


Expert has served as a consultant evaluating the use of ATM as a backbone technology for interconnecting Ethernet switches.


The VoIP expert has authored three books on VoIP including one that was selected by Cisco Systems in place of a Cisco Press book for distribution to networking personnel. That book was published by McGraw Hill and sold over 40,000 copies.

This VoIP consultant also analyzed the economics of installing VoIP for several clients to payback period and ROI.

This VoIP expert has taught two-day VoIP seminars in the United States, Israel and Germany.
