Expert has 40 years of experience as a quantity surveyor in the construction industry, principally though not exclusively in housing, new build and refurbishment. A particular specialisation is in the refurbishment of Victorian and Edwardian properties. In this, Expert has worked for private clients and for builders, so can appreciate the difficulties that both sides can experience when a building is opened up to reveal the structure.

From this experience, Expert can advise not only on the costs of building works, but also on the defects that from time to time arise in such properties, and the cost of rectifying these. Building owners need to make claims when domestic buildings are damaged by water or fire; Expert has advised on such claims and ensured that an equitable settlement is obtained

He maintained cost control on a £1.3 million project to refurbish and extend a large Edwardian house in West London, from inception to completion.Took on a part completed project to convert a derelict Victorian office building in Streatham into 8 flats. When he became involved the costs were spiralling out of control, but he managed to restore order and get the final account agreed without a dispute.
