He worked as a field technical systems specialist for Roche Diagnostics for over 6 years and has expertise in troubleshooting, training and sales support. He has personally visited over 50 leading reference and hospital testing laboratories in the United States.

Expert has over 25 years of academic and corporate experience with different DNA techniques and companies producing products for these applications. These range from nucleic acid isolation, purification, quantitation, amplification, detection and statistical analysis. He considers himself primarily a research scientist with a broad range of experience in the DNA field.

He has worked with PCR and other DNA amplification techniques almost since their inception. He has used these methods in a number of applications and published peer-reviewed articles describing this research. Expert is familiar with many variations of PCR including its use in human identification, real-time fluorescent PCR, use of Locked Nucliec acid (LNA) primers, amplification from RNA targets and many other variations.

He has experience in DNA analysis in several areas, especially in human identification and molecular diagnostics for infectious disease testing. He has worked with DNA quality control processes and documentation as applicable to AABB criteria.

Expert has developed DNA-based assays on many occasions with several biotechnology companies. He has also done extensive troubleshooting and technical support of assays. This expert has utilized DNA kits and products from a wide range of vendors so has a wide and extensive experience base. He is familiar with many different assay formats, including probe-based, homogeneous, and real-time fluorescent PCR.

He has worked with DNA fingerprinting since its beginnings and seen the technology change and evolve over time. This includes the changes in methods, validation and even DNA targets from the initial research through the current CODIS standards. The methodology and basis of the techniques are extremely familiar to this individual, who has worked from bench scientist to Lab Director levels with these techniques.

Expert has worked with DNA technology for over 25 years in both academic and corporate settings. He has also established his own corporation with this being the primary focus of this enterprise. He has worked with many different technical platforms and different applications with DNA technology as the central theme. He has a strong publication record related to human identification and DNA research.

He has utilized the state-of the art genetic sequencing instrumentation and reagents during recent work both in R&D and parentage testing. He is very familiar with the subtle differences in results generated by sequencing systems and optimization of DNA sequence output. He also has bioinformatics experience for sequence data interpretation and utilization. He knows the differences between in-house DNA squencing at low and high throughput, as well as leading service providers in this area.

This expert has extensive experience in developing and utilizing state of the art genotyping systems. He has compared results with various methods and is comfortable with the theory and practice of these methods in various applications. He is familiar with state of the art as well as past methods utilized in this application with both a hands-on and theoretical background.

Expert has served as Laboratory Director for three labs in the human identification field using DNA-based methods since 2000. He has worked under AABB regulations and been a vital link in the success of these organizations. He also has published work on the basis of these methods and has experience with the most current techniques and companies involved in human relationship (parentage, sibling, grandparentage, etc.) and DNA forensics testing.

He has spent over 25 years in academic and corporate settings utilizing emerging molecular biology tools and techniques. He has a very broad range of experience and can answer a wide range of technical and market-based questions related to the field of molecular biology and DNA technology in general. One of his great strengths is being able to communicate the message to the appropriate scientific level of the target audience.

He has extensive molecular diagnostics experience obtained while performing a field technical support role for Roche Diagnostics during the mid to late 1990s. He is familiar with the methodology, regulatory environment and corporate competition in this field, as well as the location and abilities of the client laboratories comprising the end-users of nucleic acid diagnostic testing products and equipment.

Expert has worked with PCR for many years in several different roles with a number of different organizations. He has optimized many systems, assessed and supported many others during the nearly 20 years since he has used the technique. He is experienced and familiar with the theory and practice of older gel-based detection technology right through to leading-edge quantitative real-time PCR and competing technologies. Expert has published several peer-reviewed journal articles as lead author on advancement of PCR methods in the past 10 years.
