Request Expert

Expert earned the MSEE from Syracuse University in 1998, having already spent fourteen years working as a process, test and design engineer at Dielectric Laboratories, Inc. At that time, he had a dozen published papers, articles and conference talks, and had been awarded a utility patent on a type of microwave capacitor. Expert was also a teaching assistant in microwave engineering courses, and also designed and built specialized test equipment and systems for the capacitor industry.

Expert was previously a "Senior Technologist," at Spectrum Control. He was the first degreed Microwave Engineer employed by the company. During those first years at Spectrum, he wrote and taught internal microwave course material to the non-microwave engineering personnel. He was promoted to "Director of Technology" in recognition of the progress made in the theory, design, process control, and customer service in Spectrum's coaxial resonator bandpass filter and microstrip patch antenna products. He published two additional papers and was awarded two additional utility patents for antennas at this time. He was the first engineer to provide a gun-hardened GPS antenna assembly. He developed a down-hole RFID tag antenna for the oil and gas industry. He made advances in the accuracy and repeatability of fine pitch microwave test fixtures. He developed a close spaced 2x2 planar array for satellite internet.

In 2011, he equipped his own microwave lab and launch into the freelance engineering business. He's looking forward to doing what he loves - "making cool stuff and figure things out!" Expert was hired primarily at that time for antenna work, but also used his expertise with electromagnetic simulation to help us solve a number of difficult engineering problems. He has functioned as a sharpshooter on technical challenges at all of his eight factories when problems arose which were beyond the normal experience of that particular team. One challenge he took on resulted in not only a very satisfied customer, but a patent granted to our company.

Expert cares about his work and has always functioned well whether working independently or in a group environment. He is at his best when he can spend the appropriate amount of time delving into complex problems, discovering the root causes of the challenges, and providing a workable solution. He is an engineer through and through. He is always thinking of the most efficient and effective solution. He is keenly aware of the limitations of manufacturing and physics and speaks up to ensure that product specifications are ‘realistic’.
