Expert is a highly qualified Senior Consultant with an impressive track record in Engineering Project Management Consultancy. He brings a wealth of experience, gained from a wide range of international assignments, to both large and small companies looking for a hands-on approach and involvement. His sound technical and commercial background has enabled him to focus on the problems of achieving high performance for clients in the face of constantly developing market forces.

Expert has over 30 years experience in managing major capital investment projects in the process engineering industries. Application of modern best practice in accordance with PMBoK reduces uncertainty and provides clients with a more assured project outcome. Early identification of the appropriate project strategy suplemented by a sound execution plan provides a sound foundation for suucessful implementation.

Expert's main area of expertise lies in the early project phases where the concept and feasibility of new opportunities are identified and the optimum options are selected for scope definition, cost estimation and timescale assessment. NPV calculations can demonstrate the potential returns for clients whilst rigorous risk analyses can prevent uncertainties from becoming disasters. Expert is fully conversant with all types of Engineering contracts from LSTK to totally reimbursable.

Expert is also an experienced Facilitator in the application of PM tools and techniques, conducting workshops in best practice techniques in Project Management, Process Safety Management, Value Improvement Practices and Risk Assessment. In addition, he is a trainer in all aspects of Engineering Project Management. His methodologies have been applied to a wide variety of projects in a range of process sectors to achieve results which impact favourably on his clients’ bottom line and reputation. One of Expert’s strengths is to combine his technical background and experience in senior management positions with his confident, relaxed style and interpersonal skills, which directly complement his teambuilding approach and ultimately improve his clients’ project execution performance.

Expert is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with a wide international experience in managing multi-disciplined engineering teams. Process engineering projects bring specific challenges to the plant design, not just in the process technology, but increasingly in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection. Expert has a broad expeience in these industries from upsteam oil and gas through production and export systems to chemicals and pharmaceuticals manufacture as well as utilities production.
Engineering management requires not just technical expertise but also the ability to manage resources effectively, and Expert is well-versed in this area. Recruitment of the necessary quality and quantity of resources, building and motivating the team and getting a high level of earned value for the manhours spent on the necessary engineering deliverables are all essential attributes that Expert possesses.

Expert was engaged by a North African client to lead a team to conduct a FEED study for a new Field Development in the Sahara. Duties included recruiting team members, identifying and selecting suitable consultants and contractors, and mobilising and motivating the team. The preparation of a detailed execution plan demanded a comprehensive list of deliverables, manhour and cost estimates, FEED schedule, and performance standards. The project duration was nine months and the successful outcome was a report that contained all the necessary information for the client to make a stage-gate decision and award an EPC contract for the Production Facilities and Pipelines. Expert was engaged by an Australian client to lead a team to conduct a study for the strategic development of his oil refining business in Australia. The execution plan demanded a production of a tentative list of deliverables, manhour and cost estimates, schedule, and performance standards, but had to be flexible enough to allow exploration of viable alternatives. The work involved examination of new technologies and equipment, investment appraisal and high-level risk assessment. Part of this required facilitating workshops with senior managers to ensure good stakeholder alignment. This was followed up by project strategy and implementation planning at various current and proposed new operational sites. The project duration was twelve months and the successful outcome was a report that contained all the necessary information for the client to make a first stage-gate decision on the way forward. Expert was engaged by an Australian client to conduct a peer review on a project that was forecasting substantial overspend and time overrun. Together with a small team, he reviewed the project and ascertained that best practice had not always been followed and a number of decision quality assessments had been overlooked. A remedial plan was identified that reduced the potential overspend significantly and had some impact on minimising the effect of time overrun. The Review lasted for two months and the client was satisfied with the outcome. Expert was engaged by a Middle Eastern Client to act as Project Engineering Manager in a Client Project Management Team for a proposed Petrochemical Plant. The work involved oversight of two major European Contactors in their Home Offices to ensure compliance with the LSTK Contract requirements and good engineering practice. The technology was supplied by major international licensors. The duration of of the design and procurement phase was 18 months and the output was a set of AFC packages for use by international construction contractors. Expert was engaged by an Egyptian client to act as Technical manager of a team examining options for the Egyptian Government in privatising their Chemical Industry. A large number of businesses were examined covering a wide range of products. Technical and commercial appraisals of these businesses were made and a number of quality candidates were identified for sale or flotation. Prospectuses were prepared for these candidates. The programme lasted twelve months and the client was satisfied with the deliverables.
