Expert has taught in higher education for more than 25 years. He taught design and design drawing courses, and a wide variety of higher education and adult education courses. He has a MA in Adult Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. His research is in the area of teaching and learning in higher education. For more than 10 years, Expert has been a professional faculty developer, working with university faculty and departments on issues related to teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum development. His current work is in the arena of engineering education, wherein he works with engineering faculty on teaching improvement and conducts research on learning engineering design processes. He has conducted dozens of workshops on a wide array of education topics (e.g., applying adult learning theory, teamwork, developing teaching/learning philosophies, designing learning assessments, active learning pedagogies) for higher education faculty and other training professionals.
