Expert was a Data Architect at The Deal, llc in New York, NY from August 2000 – October 2000. The assignment was to produce an e-commerce and publication website for the mergers, acquisition and investment community for deals in excess of one hundred million dollars. Expert’s primary role was to design and deploy a data web house to provide business intelligence capabilities to The Deal's customers. His secondary role was to structure the project, hire the staff, establish the architecture and lead the team. The environment was web-based, object-oriented, Use Case, HTML, XML, Java and Oracle 8i. The data web house was designed, populated and deployed to the web in eight weeks.He worked as a Project Manager at EMC2 Corporation, Milford, MA from November 1999 – May 2000. His assignment was to manage the upgrade of EMC2's Customer Support and Logistics Systems (120,000 human and cyber users), migrate the associated databases (84 gigabytes) from Sybase to Oracle, and reconnect 30 feeds and associated applications. His role was to produce the project plan, organize and task the team of 12 contractors and 40 employees and provide project management for the Sybase clarify upgrade and migration to Oracle. Expert worked as an Enterprise Data Architect for Comcast Cellular Communications, Inc., King of Prussia, PA. He deployed an enterprise data architecture, enterprise database and data marts in support of the Billing, Accounts Receivables, Marketing and Sales, and other systems in 60 business days. He had two resources at his disposal, a DBA and a Data Analyst. The database is a foundation component of an enterprise architecture using Microsoft’s Distributed Internet Architecture tools and IBM’s MQSeries messaging product. This enterprise architecture integrates a campus-area NT network, an HP/UX switch provisioning system within the campus area network, and an IBM MVS mainframe connected over a wide area network. Updates from the legacy systems are done via asynchronous messaging. Messages are received by applications that behave as automated clients to the transactions system.He was the Principal Consultant for Commercial Union Insurance Companies, Foxboro, MA from March 1998 to September 1998. Expert facilitated the implementation of a Software Factory consisting of teams, architectures, methodology, tools and Total Quality Management. He also mentored two development teams operating within a structured framework, using the Evolutionary Prototype Development Methodology, JAD and RAD workshops and metrics. IBM SNA supports the wide-area network and Intel, Ethernet, Windows NT, VB5 and SQL Server support the local area networks. He published all project documentation to the CU Intranet. Expert worked as a Principal Consultant for ALM Services, Inc., Waltham, MA, a property insurance service company created by a partnership of Liberty Mutual and Arkwright Insurance companies. They went into business on July 1, 1997 with $100 M dollars of property insurance to manage. Expert was responsible for finding, hiring and organizing the IT staff and bringing up the systems environment (NT, VB, SQL Server, Crystal, Source Safe, etc.). He was also responsible for prototyping the sales and marketing, underwriting, engineering, claims and financial management systems and he produced and populated an enterprise repository capable of supporting those systems with existing Liberty Mutual, Arkwright and other property data. During this process, he produced a field engineering system that automated the engineering site inspection reports and the field engineer's time and expenses reporting.
