Expert has 27 years of experience in all aspects of fingerprint identification and related subjects. He started his career at New Scotland Yard, London, then moving to South Wales Police and finally to Gwent Police. In that time he has been involved in much investigation involving serious crime, regarding the recovery and identification of fingerprints, as well as the more normal case load of a fingerprint bureau, and has given expert evidence in all levels of trial in England and Wales. He has also been involved in the recovery of fingerprints from numerous cadavers, many being extremely challenging due to the decomposition process.

For the past 15 years Expert has been the fingerprint bureau trainer, involved with the progression of students from the start of their career to achieving expert status and all other aspects of career training including all new developments. He also trained police officers on forensic awareness; this included basic trainees as well as more experienced officers of rank.

Expert was also an assessor for the National Police Information Agency in the final court presentation of the fingerprint expert course, acting of both defence and prosecution. He has a 2:1 degree in law with honours,and has also lectured on all aspects of fingerprint related subjects to colleges, schools.

He organised the 2007 Fingerprint Society Educational Conference in Newport Gwent. Besides this he has, over the past 12 years developed and delivered training packages for all levels of intake, on all aspects, from students to senior ranks in many organisations including the Crown Prosecution Sevice and the National Police Improvement Agency.
