After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Medical Biochemistry and a Masters degree in Biomolecular Archaeology, Expert spent almost 9 years with the Forensic Science Service (FSS), carrying out work for the police forces of England and Wales. She began her career as a laboratory assistant in the DNA unit and later worked as an analytical assistant in the toxicology department. In 2005 she became a Reporting Forensic Scientist in the Fire Investigation Unit. She progressed to Forensic Specialist with expertise in fire investigation and associated examinations.


Expert became a Director and Fire Investigator with Employer in 2012. She has worked on a wide variety of cases from criminal damage and murder. Expert has experience in examining small electrical items for the presence of faults or failures for both criminal and civil cases.
Expert is experienced in the legal process and has given evidence as an expert witness both in the UK and abroad in Crown, Coroner and Magistrates courts on many occasions.


Expert was the central fire investigator in the scene, laboratory and court presentation concerning the fire and subsequent deaths at Lakanal House, Camberwell in 2009. The scene took several days to investigation and the laboratory examination identified that the television in the room had been at fault.

Other Relevant Experience
Flashburning is the microscopic examination of clothing and fabrics to determine whether or not they are heat damaged and the potential source of the heat. This is particularly useful when an item is alleged to have been in close proximity to a volatile flammable liquid ignition.
