Request Expert

During the last 10 years Expert has been working in the field of Flow Cytometry with an Immunology background. Her first Flow Cytometry training was at Stanford University, while she was doing her PhD Research Thesis in Immunology. She first got trained in basic Flow Cytometry procedures and instruments very useful to answer questions in the Immunology field. She developed such high level of skill in Flow Cytometry that during her last year of her PhD she was given the responsibility of operating the cell sorter and analyzer instruments (BD FACS Aria, BD Fortessa, BD FACS Calibur) on which the laboratory depends.
She then moved to Austin Texas to pursue her post-doctoral training where she used Flow Cytometry techniques in a regular basis. She got expertise in the use of BD C6 Accuri Flow Cytometer and in FACS data analysis using different softwares like: FlowJo, ModFit.
In 2011 she became the director of the Flow Cytometry Core research facility. This is a research-oriented Flow Cytometry Core that offers instrumental and technical assistance to all researchers. She offers assistance in the experimental design, immunophenotyping, cell-based functional assays as well as cancer immunology and stem cell applications.

Work History

Years Employer Title Department
Years: 2011 to Present Employer: Undisclosed Title: Director, Flow Cytometry Core Department: Dell Pediatric Research Institute (DPRI)
Responsibilities:
She oversees the overall functioning of the Core, which includes providing state-of the-art flow cytometry to DPRI members. This involves oversight of standard flow services including multicolor fluorescence cell-analysis, multicolor cell-sorting among others. She develops standard operating procedures and quality control measures for all assays. On a consultation basis, she meets with researchers to determine what assays may be best suited for their studies.
Years Employer Title Department
Years: 2008 to 2011 Employer: University of Texas at Austin Title: Post-doctoral trainer Department: Biomedical Enginnering
Responsibilities:
She worked on different research projects focused on differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells or embryonic stem cells into hematopoietic cells (T cell, dendritic cells). Her main technical tool was Flow Cytometry.
Years Employer Title Department
Years: 2002 to 2008 Employer: Stanford University Title: Research Assistant Department: Pathology Department
Responsibilities:
During this time she worked as a Research Assistant in the Cellular Immunology Lab to pursue her PhD Research Thesis. Her goal was to understand the immunologic role of CD101, a transmembrane protein expressed on different subpopulations of T cells, dendritic cells and monocytes. She got trained in Flow Cytometry assays as well as in acquisition of samples in different cytometers and cell sorting.
