Ms. Expert has testified as an expert witness in the field of forensic DNA and serology over 45 times in eight states for both the prosecution and the defense. In addition, Expert has acted as an adjunct professor - teaching Forensic Serology and DNA, Advanced Criminalistics, and Introduction to Criminalistics - at several higher education institutions.
As part of her consulting business, Ms. Expert reviews DNA case files for technical accuracy, chain of custody documentation, and other forensic issues. She is also available to observe DNA testing of samples at government or private laboratories, aid in the preparation of cross-examination questions, review audit and other documentation, and provide expert testimony when needed.
Ms. Expert has worked with multiple Public Defender's offices and Alternate Public Defenders in the state of California and beyond. Recent consulting experience including case review, review of lab policies and procedures, review of audit documents, and review of laboratory corrective action reports helped lead to a hung jury in a serious criminal case in Orange County, CA.

Ms. Expert was also responsible for reviewing all other analyst's work and was responsible for all technical aspects of the lab including troubleshooting problems.
In addition, Expert performed forensic serology and DNA casework including screening evidence items for the presence of blood, semen, urine, and saliva, performing STR DNA typing on evidentiary items submitted to the lab utilizing Organic, Chelex, and DNA IQ extraction methods with Quantifiler quantitation and electrophoresis on an ABI 310 with analysis using GeneMapper ID. In addition, Ms. Expert validated and was fully trained to use and interpret YFiler, and Minifiler amplification kits.
During her time as Technical Leader, Ms. Expert also wrote detailed reports based upon her findings, interpreted DNA mixtures, calculated statistical conclusions and testified in court as an expert witness when needed.

She performed serology and STR DNA testing on evidence submitted by agencies in 18 counties and utilized Profiler Plus and COfiler amplification kits with analysis on ABI 310, AB 3100 and AB 3130 genetic analyzers. She attended crime scenes when requested, provided training to investigators and attorneys on Forensic Serology and DNA capabilities and attended Cold Case Squad meetings to answer biological evidence-based questions.
Ms. Expert completed testing on over 1000 cases during her time at FDLE and she wrote case reports based upon her findings and testified in depositions and in court as an expert witness when needed.

She has over 45 criminal trial experiences testifying as an expert in forensic serology and DNA analysis. She has been accepted as an expert and testified in the States of California, Idaho, Iowa, Maryland, Rhode Island (Superior and Supreme Court), Texas, Washington, and Florida (in Alachua, Polk, Pinellas, Pasco, Duval, Citrus, Sarasota, Hillsborough, Hernando, Highlands, Collier, Lee, and Charlotte counties and Federal Court in Tampa). She has testified for both the prosecution and the defense.|
