Expert Details

Fossil Fuel Hydroprocessing

ID: 714105 California, USA

Request Expert

Expert has devoted his research career to catalysis, especially in the areas of fossil fuel hydroprocessing and solid acid catalysis. He has done research on polymer supported catalysts, supported metal catalysts, especially novel catalysts made from metal clusters and other organometallic precursors. He has also done extensive research on acid-base catalysis, specifically, catalysis by ion-exchange resins (sulfonated polymers ) and zeolites. His work with zeolites includes catalysis by metals supported in zeolites.

Expert has been interested in reactions including hydroprocessing of fossil fuels (hydrogenation, hydrodesulfurization, hydrodenitrogenation, and hydrocracking), hydrocarbon conversions (such as those occurring in gas oil cracking an in naphtha reforming), and synthesis gas conversion. He has wide experience in the characterization of surfaces and catalysts. The methods include infrared and extended x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, temperature programmed desorption and reduction, and reactor experiments, including those requiring high pressures.
