Request Expert

For more than 20 years Expert has been developing and testing practical chemical methods for the safe conversion of small quantities of hazardous chemicals to non-hazardous products. She has developed procedures for heavy metal ions, nitrophenols such as picric acid, chemotherapeutic drugs, and other potentially carcinogenic chemicals. She can answer in-depth questions regarding hazardous waste oxidation and precipitation processes as well as hazardous waste treatment and disposal.

Expert has developed and tested a spill mixture for use in cleaning up spills of chemicals in laboratories, hospitals, and other locations where relatively small quantities are used. Expert has presented numerous safety seminars in high schools, colleges, and universities, and to chemical professionals on the handling and safe storage of hazardous chemicals. In connection with her work on chemical treatment and disposal, Expert has gathered information on the long- and short-term effects of hazardous chemicals on human health, especially for those (such as PCBs and dioxins) which are perceived by the public as high risk.

Expert has given talks on ways to reduce the production of waste chemicals, especially in educational institutions and laboratories. She is familiar with hazardous material substitution as well as hazardous waste material recycling and reuse. Expert's expertise is in the handling and treatment of small quantities of a wide variety of hazardous wastes. In her laboratory, methods for the disposal and recycling of small amounts of hazardous chemical wastes are developed and tested. The results have been published in her book that talks about how to dispose of hazardous chemicals.
