In addition, through her own clinical work, she prescribes antipsychotics and is extremely knowledgeable about the differences between them in terms of efficacy, side effect profile, tolerability, etc.

In addition to her work as Medical Director of the entire adult psychiatry clinic, Expert also oversees a program that places psychiatrists and psychologists into primary care clinics. She maintains a rigorous knowledge base in clinical medicine so that she can ensure that patients with both mental illness and medical illnesses receive gold standard levels of care.

As a psychiatrist, Expert has been prescribing flouxetine for years and is very knowledgeable about its efficacy, tolerability, side effect profile, cost, etc. It is one of many anti-depressants and anxiolytics that she prescribes on a daily basis to patients.

As a psychiatrist, Expert is a specialist in the diagnosis of and treatment of mental disorders. Whether it is something more common like major depressive disorder or something rare like delusional disorder, she can determine the diagnosis and decide on a course of treatment. In addition, she spent three years doing research under the mentorship of one of the authors of the DSM-IV which is the diagnostic manual for mental disorders. Expert authored or co-authored a number of papers focused on improving the diagnostic approach to individuals with both mental illness and substance use.

As a fully trained psychiatrist and the Medical Director of a large academic psychiatry outpatient clinic, Expert is an expert in the field of psychiatry. She completed a psychiatric residency program and then spent four years in fellowship training focused on the intersection of psychiatry and public health issues. She subsequently has worked in an HIV Center providing psychiatric care to individuals with HIV/AIDS and in primary care clinics providing psychiatric care to individual with significant medical illnesses.

Expert's expertise in psychology hearkens back to her college years when she minored in psychology and did research in a cognitive psychology lab. She has since broadened her knowledge of psychology through her psychiatry residency which included two years of intensive psychodynamic therapy supervision as well as a didactic instruction focused on the various schools of psychological thought. She currently supervises both psychiatrists and psychologists in their clinical work.

Throughout her career, Expert has focused on the intersection of medicine and public health. Her interest in public health was formalized by her fellowship training in public psychiatry as well as her completing a Masters in Public Health at the Mailman School of Public Health. In both training forums, Expert focused on healthcare administration and management with a particular interest in the provision of care to the underserved and indigent. Since graduating, she has been invited to teach a graduate seminar at the School of Public Health within the Division of Health Policy and Administration that focused on the development of healthcare policy in relation to the urban homeless population.
