He is trained and Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He is a professor of medicine and performs clinical research in the areas of viral hepatitis, renal dysfunction in the setting of liver disease (i.e. hepatorenal syndrome), encephalopathy and nutritional disorders associated with cirrhosis.
