Expert is an expert with over 25 years of experience in research, development, and design of mechanical motion and power transmission. He is the developer of a gear design method and software. This method allows him to significantly maximize gear transmission technical and market performance including: increased load capacity; reduced size and weight; higher efficiency; lower noise and vibration; increased reliability and lifetime; reduced cost, and more. Expert is the author of a unique methodology for the design of gears with asymmetric tooth profiles that provides additional performance enhancement for gear drives with unidirectional load transmission. He applies the Finite Element Method (FEM) for stress analysis of gears resulting in accurate bending and contact stress definition for load sharing calculations.

Expert is involved in the design of many types of gears, including external, internal, rack and pinion, spur, helical, bevel, face, worm, other involute gear drives. He provides optimal solutions for complex multi-stage gear systems such as planetary, orbital, and differential drives and their combinations.

A significant portion of Expert’s work involves plastic molded and powder metal gear transmissions. He is one of developers of the molding solution method of the mold cavity profile definition for plastic and metal injection molding, and powder metal processing of the gears and other precision parts.

Expert has completed dozens of successful gearing arrangement projects in the following areas: aerospace, agriculture, automotive, aviation, consumer products, defense, food processing, medical instruments and equipment, printing machines, small engines, tool industry and many others. A fundamental part of his service is providing cost reduction solutions for existing gear drives. Some of these projects resulted in a 30 to 70% cost reduction in comparison with the initial design. He is the author of a number of technical publications and patents in this area.

Application of his gear design method for the Sikorsky Corporation allowed Expert to reduce the maximum bending stress of high performance helicopter gears by 10-15%.In an engagement with the AeroVironment Company, he developed gear actuators for miniature surveillance aircraft which resulted in significant size and cost reduction, and higher reliability.As a result of Expert’s consulting for the John Deere Company’s Seeding Group, old style metal chain drives were replaced by direct-designed crossed helical plastic gear drives allowing increased reliability and safety, and reduced cost.In a consulting engagement for Pacifica Group Technologies Propriety Limited, Australia, he developed an extremely compact and inexpensive planetary gearbox for automotive electronic brake system.Expert’s redesign of the cam for General Mills’ yogurt filling machine allowed them to increase the machine’s productivity by 65%.
