Expert has over 40 years of experience in the fields of water, wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment. His experiences include the engineering, operational and educational aspects in each of these fields. For the past 40 years, he has served primarily as process engineer project manager or principal-incharge for a variety of study, design and treatment plant operations projects. Expert's project experience encompasses the design and operation of new facilities as well as improvements to existing facilities. Representative projects include wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants and industrial treatment plants. Nutrient control, advanced wastewater treatment, clarifier design, new processes, Biosolids and troubleshooting are among his specialties. His experience also includes directing numerous pilot studies, a number of value engineering studies, odor identification and control studies, and serving as an expert witness. Expert has authored or co-authored more than 170 publications and a text book, was the editor of a major conference proceedings, and has contributed to several major manual of practices - including serving as liquid treatment volume leader of WEF's design of municipal wastewater treatment plants, task chair of WEF’s clarifier design manual, and nitrification chapter author of WEF's nutrient control manual of practice (MOP) - and technical publications, as well as presenting numerous seminars in the field of environmental engineering. He is a former editor of WEF's research journal Water Environment Research and has won numerous awards, including the industry’s most prestigious one: the AAEE Gordon Fair award.

• Developer of an activated sludge operational approach used around the world.
• Experience as an educator, having taught for 3 years at Rutgers University an having developed/taught a new course IIT Chicago in 2016.
• Executive in a top engineering firm, Earth Tech (originally Rust E & I and ultimately AECOM), helping to propel firm into top 5 WW firms in ENR. A developer/founder of Technical Practice Groups (TPG(s) and headed Biosolids TPG for Earth Tech.
• Creator and leader (for 24 years) of Greeley and Hansen’s Process Engineering Group which ultimately was copied by most Environmental Engineering firms.
