He is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Also, a little bit of German. He has worked in Italy, USA, and Brazil in international
environments. His 40+ years of management experience and knowledge are at the service of his clients, and is constantly looking for new
opportunities, where he can help as needed and always learn something

He is currently implementing ISO 9001 QMS in a Shipping Agency with offices in three of the major ports in Venezuela. In the first phase he prepared the Value Flow Map, and taught all process owners to document their processes. Now, in the second phase he is helping process owners to manage their processes, produce and organize records, and analyze services and process information and indicators. He conducted an internal QMS audit (ISO 9001) for a client that has been ISO 9001 certified for over 10 years. He found that their Process map was completely wrong, as it only considered ISO 9001 specific processes insted of their CORE BUSINESS Process. The most probable root cause of this lies in a wrong QMS approach, in particular by the Top Management, highly competent in technical matters but who never understood the benefits of a well implemented QMS, but focused only in obtaining a certificate, which was a mandatory requisite of their major clients.
Fortunately, the old guys in the Top Management team were recently replaced by a new generation of proffessional managers, and rational, common sense changes are being implemented.

Additional Experience

Training / Seminars
As a Naval officer, training my crew was allways one of the main activity. I took the US NAVY Trainer course (4 weeks) in San Diego, CA, in 1976. I also taught naval operations, tactical communications and other proffessional subjects at the Venezuelan Naval Academy, Operational Planning at the Venezuelan Naval Post graduate School, and Strategic and Operational Planning and Decision Making at the Venezuelan Naval War College, where I also served as Academic Dean (1993).
As a consultant I have taught more than 100 courses in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISM Code Management Systems implementation and auditing.
I currently teach Quality and Process Management at the Universidad Marítima del Caribe Postgraduate School, and I am also tutor to a Postgraduate thesis.
Other Relevant Experience
I´ve been told that I have an analytical mind. I can understand an organization´s business process and organization very fast, and identify potential problem areas. It´s easy for me to "see" the interrelationships between processes and people.
My 40+ years long experience helps me identify very quickly leadership styles and issues.
I consider Management Systems as HUMAN SYSTEMS. Organizations are shaped by people, with all their virtues and defects, motivations, emotions, dreams and complex nature. Also, I find that COMMON SENSE is frequently NOT USED in process management, and in Management Systems. THUS, I help people at all levels to get in touch with their logical thoughts, their own experience, knowledge and common sense in order to find the best solution for their organizational and management problems.
