With knowledge of material selection for medical devices, Expert has specific expertise in selecting materials based on cost, physical properties, radiation or other forms of sterilization, blood and tissue compatibility, permeability, and aging properties.

SURFACE CHEMISTRY; SURFACE MODIFICATION. Expert has extensive experience in surface chemistry and the physics of polymers with a special emphasis on biocompatible coatings, lubricants, low- or high-permeability materials, and methods of surface analysis. He is familiar with ionizing plasma technology, radiation grafting, corona, and polymer coating technology. He can answer questions on blood and tissue compatibility as well as low-permeation plasma deposited coatings, such as silicone dioxide.

GAMMA-RAY STERILIZATION; E-BEAM STERILIZATION; GAMMA-STABLE PLASTIC. Expert has expertise in gamma and e-beam sterilization of medical polymers with a special emphasis on material selection and sterilization of plastics. He has developed methods of stabilizing certain materials to high-energy radiation.

PERMEABLE POLYMER; PERMEABLE PACKAGING MATERIAL; OXYGEN-PERMEABLE POLYMER. Expert has expert knowledge of permeability and diffusion of gases and liquids through polymeric materials. He has worked with methods of increasing or decreasing the rate of permeation through membranes, coatings, and packaging materials.

POLYPROPYLENE MANUFACTURING; POLYPROPYLENE MODIFICATION; POLYPROPYLENE POLYMERIZATION. Expert's polypropylene expertise includes manufacturing, modification, polymerization, material selection, methods of stabilization (including high-energy irradiation, methods of improving clarity, and prevention of toxicity) in medical and related applications.

THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER; MEDICAL ELASTOMER. An expert in thermoplastic elastomer technology, Expert has worked with the selection and modification of elastomers for medical use in various tubing and sealing applications. His expertise in this area has led to major cost reductions by replacing thermoset rubbers with new thermoplastic elastomer technology.

METALLOCENE POLYMER TECHNOLOGY. Expert is knowledgeable of the special catalysts for making new and existing polymers better and more cost effective. He has worked with the major polymer producers on identifying product opportunities and specific applications of metallocene polymer technology.

SILICONE; SILICONE-FREE LUBRICANT. Expert has in-depth knowledge of non-toxic silicone and related lubricants for medical devices and needle technology. He has advanced knowledge of silicone-free lubricant technology and methods of application.

INJECTION MOLDING. Familiar with injection molding technology, Expert understands how to improve productivity of thermoplastic polymers in terms of low-cost molding cycles and improved product quality.
