Expert has a background in land surface modelling as well as operational weather forecasting. In 2002 he received his Ph.D. in Geophysics using and developing a land surface model and making a coupling between an atmospheric and an ocean model. He later was offered a permanent position in the Regional Weather Service of Piedmont (Italy) as weather forecaster and land surface modeler. Expert presently is working at the Regional Weather Service supervising international projects on climatology, land surface modeling and biodiversity.
