Request Expert

Expert has contributed to several different fields of science with one central goal of combating infectious diseases using novel pathways and methods. His most significant contribution is the development of the most potent inhibitor to the stringent response activating the enzyme RelA, known to date. Expert's expertise is a combination of in silico high-throughput screening, structure-activity relationship studies, and fundamental wet laboratory work.

Expert published one of the first papers on in silico modeling of two potential target proteins from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus; this research article has garnered over 190 citations since May 2020. He co-discovered the first quantum dot made from the red phosphorus allotrope fibrous phosphorous. He also authored the first paper contributing to the fundamental understanding of biofilm attachment to 3D printed materials.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Expert was tasked with setting up and managing operations of the Employer COVID-19 molecular diagnostic laboratory. He worked to obtain the laboratory’s CLIA license and CAP accreditation. Currently, his role is Operations Director and oversees all day-to-day operations of the laboratory. He has also accepted an assistant professorship position in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and Institute for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Disease at Employer starting July 2022.
