Expert has worked in Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and Scanning Auger Microscopy (SAM) for over 25 years. He was one of the originators of the application of multispectral techniques to the study of SAM Images. He has used advanced image processing algorithms to the study of SAM images.

Expert has been writing computer programs since 1978 - initially in FORTRAN and BASIC, but more recently in C++ and Matlab. Object
Oriented techniques are used as well as Agile methods in development and Test Driven Development. He has recently invented a new
technique for the enhancement of geological faults in seismic surveys.

Acted as imaging consultant for a company in Wales, UK. The company had bought some Ground Penetrating Radar equipment and had expected it to be able to perform tasks which it was unable to do. He examined the equipment and software and was able to show that the equipment would not be able to do what the customer had expected. He wrote some peak fitting software for a company in Australia. The software fitted up to 10 overlapping peaks using a iterative least squares approach. The peaks were modelled using a Gaussian/Lorentzian peak shape.
