Expert is a neurointensivist in active clinical practice and is board-certified in both Neurocritical Care and Adult Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and also in Neurocritical Care through the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties.

Expert provides comprehensive neurological and critical care services to patients with acute brain, spinal cord, and/or nerve injury, and has extensive experience in the management of disorders such as acute ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, hypoxic-ischemic (anoxic) brain injury, encephalopathy, status epilepticus, neurotoxicology, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenic crisis, meningitis, encephalitis, and perioperative complications of neurosurgical procedures.

Expert completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated summa cum laude with an AB in Biology and Anthropology in 2004. From 2004-2008 he completed his medical training and MD degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and from 2005-2008 also concurrently completed an MS degree in Applied Anatomy. After graduation from medical school he completed an internship in Internal Medicine from 2008-2009 and residency in Neurology from 2009-2012 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Neurocritical Care from 2012-2014 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia and Cornell.

He currently holds an academic appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at a highly prestigious School of Medicine, and previously served there as Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, during which time he also provided clinical neurocritical care services at another medical facility. While there he also served in education leadership, running the neuroscience/neurology course for medical students at the top-ranked School of Medicine. He has won several awards for teaching, with awards including Special Recognition for Teaching Excellence, Excellence in Education Innovation, and the Distinguished Teacher Award in the Basic Sciences. He has also been recognized nationally for teaching efforts with the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award. With his clinical expertise and acumen, as well as his extensive teaching experience, he has a unique ability to explain complex neurological conditions to those of all educational backgrounds and experiences.

In additional to his work at his primary institutions, Expert is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Medical Association. He have previously served on the national Education Committee for the American Academy of Neurology, and currently serves on their Regional Conference Subcommittee and as part of their delegation to the American Medical Association's House of Delegates. He also serves on the Undergraduate Education Committee for the Society of Critical Care Medicine and has worked on the Emergency Neurological Life Support curriculum through the Neurocritical Care Society.
