Expert is an ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) Level III certificate holder in UT (ultrasonic testing), RT (radiographic testing), MT (magnetic particle testing), and PT (liquid penetrant testing). He has held these certifications for 23 years and has recertified by examination 3 different times. He writes procedures for the qualification and certification of NDT technicians to meet SNT-TC-1A. He has audited personnel records to verify they meet the criteria of SNT-TC-1A. He has maintained inspection departments conducting the training, qualification, and certification to SNT-TC-1A

Expert spent five years as an NDT Level III for Intermet Foundries with NDT oversite for eight ductile iron foundries. He was responsible for the engineering of NDT test systems and performed research and development at the technical center for Intermet. Expert performed velocity testing to verify the relationship of the nodularity of ductile iron as it related to perlite, temperature, and nodule size. He assisted the plants in establishing the velocity limits for different ductile iron products. Expert also spent three additional years with Georgia Ductile/WesCast Foundries as a Laboratory manager / NDE Manager responsible for the material testing of ductile iron and NDT testing on ductile iron.

Expert has been performing NDT on metal products since 1972 using UT (ultrasonic testing), RT(radiography testing), PT (liquid penetrant testing), and MT (magnetic particle testing). These methods are used to detect and evaluate flaws within metallic and non-metallic products alike. The product forms he examined are forgings, castings, welds, piping, and composite material. The codes and standards that he has been associated with are ASME, API, ANSI, AWS, NAS-410, SNT-TC-1A, and EN-473. He had specialized training in IGSCC (intergranular stress corrosion cracking) detection and sizing.

Expert was the Quality Assurance Manager for Pullman Power Products for three years with responsibility for the maintenance of quality procedures, material quality and testing, and NDT within the plant.

He also spent about 6 1/2 years as a quality engineer for Anchor Darling Valve Company with responsibility for all military contracts and various nuclear contracts. This function involved the review of contracts for code and customer requirements and to ensure all of the quality testing and quality functions were performed at the correct time of manufacture. He was the Corporate NDT Level III with responsibility for all NDT Certification and qualification of technicians and to assist other quality engineers with NDT issues within their contracts.

As the quality manager for Pullman Power Products, the Quality Engineer for Anchor Darling Valve Co and NDT Level III for 37 years, he was responsible for the evaluation of different quality functions ranging from audits of a material/service supplier quality assurance manuals to auditing the individual procedures for qualification and certification of NDT technicians. He also performed numerous audits and tests to verify the quality of internal material and operations. Expert was responsible for writing and or approving quality standards for employers and approving supplier procedures for critical functions.

He provides all NDT qualification services and technique development for a company in Jamestown, NY area. They do not have the capability to perform these services and have been very appreciative of the services he provides to them. He provides services to Sikorsky Aircraft Inc in Bridgeport and Stratford Conn. Has provided a review of specs and performed training in all methods. He also did a complete survey of their testing facilities and reported to management. Provide training and level III support services to PQT of Greenville, SC which is a competitor of mine and they use his services often.

Expert Witness Experience
Provided expert witness to Rust Engineering (Pullman Power Products) for a court case involving improper welding and testing performed on a stainless steel liner sold to Pullman's Chimney division for installation at the Idaho Energy installation near Idaho Falls, Idaho. This event took place in the 1980s and did not make court. He was asked to give the deposition in Birmingham, Alabama. The case was settled before it made court.
