She had full responsibility for the setting up and coordination and then management of the early rehabilitation programme at the Papworth Trust which was developed specifically to help Clients get back to work, independent living and social activities following trauma. 70% of Clients through the Papworth rehabilitation programme had acquired brain injuries and their ages ranged from 16 years to 65 years. The team worked with 30 clients at any one time at various stages of their rehabilitation.

The programmes covered independent living skills (including use of a training flat built on site ), training ( a training department and links with colleges were in situ with outreach options), housing options ( a housing department was on site and outreach support was given for relocation ), work options ( factory placements on site and outreach programmes were set up with the support of job coaches ), care support required ( care homes and individual and shared homes on site and through outreach individual packages were set up for Clients). All Clients on the programme achieved further independence in one or more of the above life skills, many of them returning to independent living and either full or sheltered work back in their home environments. Expert has been asked through case work to act as a rehabilitation expert for Brain Injured Clients and she and her team provide Case Management on an outreach basis nationally.
