Expert started his medical career in Family Medicine and this specialty was at least 50% of his practice for 20 years. He has been in full time practice in occupational medicine for the past 8 years. He completed specialty training in Occupational/Preventive Medicine and became board certified 6 years ago. Occupational medicine has been a substantial part of his practice for over 20 years. His occupational medicine practice has included evaluation and management of a wide variety of occupational injuries and illnesses, consulting work for a variety of industries as well as part-time medical directorship for occupational medicine departments in healthcare and manufacturing. With this type of practice, he has been able to remain familiar with the wide variety of occupational and general medical issues that were part of my training and certification. His practice also requires that he remains current with changes in regulatory guidelines and legal requirements that relate to occupational medicine.

Since 1994 he has worked with hospital based occupational medicine programs and has provided hazard recognition and remediation consultation to local industries including manufacturing, transportation, educational institutions, shipping, mining & health care.In 1997 he set up an internal hearing conservation program for a 2400 employee manufacturing facility.In 2005 he assisted a local medical group and mining company in setting up programs in hearing conservation, respiratory protection & medical monitoring and continues to serve as occupational medicine advisor.In 2008 he helped develop a strategy for Great Lakes shipping companies in responding to US Coast Guard changes in medical requirements and licensing processes.In December of 2008, he advised a 2000 employee health care system on adaptation to FMLA changes with focus on the questions of return to work and fitness for duty evaluations.
