Expert has extensive experience in general ophthalmology and eyecare. He is a well-known practitioner and has published extensively in this field. He is a member of leading national and international learned bodies and is on the governing board of UKISCRS (United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) and a member of the Scientific committee of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He has experience of working with the pharmaceutical industry and ophthalmic device manufacturers being on the UK advisory Comittee of two leading multinationals. Expert has worked with the media, having being quoted in local, national and international press (most notably, when the Prime Minister - Gordon Brown - developed retinal tears). He is consulted by solicitors on medico-legal matters. He has acted as advisor to NICE (The National Institute of Clinical Excellence)

Expert has a well established interest in cataract surgery including phacoemulsification technologies and intraocular lens implants. He has published papers on these subjects. He is a member ofthe governing board of UKISCRS (United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery) and a regular member of faculty at ESCRS (Europaen Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery) and ASCRS (America Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons). He is a national expert in complex cases such as subluxed lenses annd eye surgery in Marfan's syndrome. He has designed instruments for such surgery. Expert has been an adviser to the largest independant sector provider of cataract surgical services in the UK and has also advised NICE (The National Institute of Clinical Excellence) on Cataract related matters. He is on the KOL (Key opinion leader panel) of a major manufacturer of phacoemulsification machines and intraocular lens implants.

Expert is amongst the leading retinal specialists in the country. He has expertise in Macular Degeneration, Diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions. He is program chair of the Retina Speciality Meeting held in Conjunction with the Annual Congress of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He has lectured at regional and national meetings on retinal topics.

Being a leading practitioner in both anterior and posterior segment eye surgery, Expert has a unique perspective on assessing and managing eye injuries and trauma. He is often consulted by the legal profession on medico-legal cases. He serves as faculty on an instructional course on Eye Trauma at ASCRS (American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons)
