Expert has a deep interest in the carbanion chemistry since his PhD, where he worked with organolithium chemistry in one of the top research groups in lithium chemistry in Europe. His early steps as associate professor at the university of Alicante (Spain) were also in the carbanion chemistry field, mainly lithium and magnesium chemistry. During his post-doctoral period in Stockholm, Sweden, he was working in projects involving transition metals (Palladium and Ruthenium) and the use of enzymes in combination with these metals. He is currently a senior research scientist in Medicinal Chemistry. Expert has been responsible for several Med Chem projects, and he is part of the scientific experts team that evaluates the chemistry plans and synthesis proposals for all the projects in-house. During the last nine years Expert has focused his interest in the development of new heterocycles with biological activity.

He is expert in synthesis design and scale up. He has been helping a number of companies to for example modify a typical med chem route to make it more robust and scalable (from mg synthesis to kg)He has been developing scientifically different cheminformatic software. His expert knowledge of what is needed within medicinal chemistry together with his high skills in computers has been the key factor for the launching of new applications (like for example ICFRP developed by Infochem)He has been analysing chemical space around different patent fields and suggest IP free compounds that are predicted to be active within the same therapeutic area.
