He has worked with polyethylenes, EVA, EAA, LLDPE, VLDPE, ULDPE, ionomers, metallocenes (including Dow Affinity and Exxon Exact), random copolymer polypropylenes, and metallocene polypropylenes. Applications include high hot tack materials (ionomer, LLDPE, and new metallocene) for vertical form fill sealing applications. EVA and very low-density materials in combination with irradiation for low-temperature shrink bags. Expert has detailed knowledge of peelable heat seal materials for the medical packaging market, where very exact peel characteristics and tamper evidence are required.
Expert has been involved with polyethylene for over 20 years. He has packaging design and processing experience with high-pressure polyethylene, including the subtle variations in the resins made from autoclave and tubular reactors. EVA resins, especially for shrink applications, are well-known to Expert. He worked for Union Carbide when the first low-pressure linear low-density polyethylene resins were introduced. He has worked with very low-density, ultra low-density and metallocene products as they have been developed and introduced into the marketplace. Expert knows the packaging performance characteristics and processing parameters for all of these materials.
