Expert has over 25 years of experience in phlebotomy, including overseeing the phlebotomy departments at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York, NY. In these roles, he was responsible for training, supervising, counseling, and assessing the work of over 40 phlebotomists. He has comprehensive knowledge of the standard of care for phlebotomy in healthcare settings such as hospitals, doctors' offices, patient service centers, and clinical laboratories.

As a medical expert, he has reviewed 18 cases of phlebotomy-related injuries involving nerve damage, arterial puncture, and syncope. He has authored many phlebotomy-related policies and procedures, designed training modules, and established competency assessment and quality assurance programs. He taught theoretical concepts and practical skills in phlebotomy to undergraduate students in medical laboratory science programs at the university level. Altogether, Expert has drawn blood from over 30,000 people.

Expert has a Ph.D. in Clinical Laboratory Science from Rutgers University. He is a frequent speaker at scientific meetings in the U.S. and around the world, and has written numerous peer-reviewed publications and authored chapters in hematology textbooks.
