Expert has the expertise and fundamental training in polymers, especially in polymer alloys, where he holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in polymer science. During the course of his career, he first entered academia, becoming a full professor in the course of a year at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, in Mexico City.

He later helped found the Center for Scientific Research of Yucatán (CICY) which is now a major research institution in Mexico. After spending a year as a Visiting Scholar for the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, he went into industrial research as a senior scientist with the Plastics Additives area of the Rohm and Haas Company (now part of Dow Advanced Materials) where he was elected a Research Fellow after 6 years.

Expert has experience in a broad spectrum of polymer-related areas. From poly(vinyl chloride), PVC formulation, processing and characterization to engineering polymer modification and melt-processing, especially in extrusion and injection molding, including polymer alloys and compatibilization, as well as in polyolefins. From a synthetic point of view, he has expertise in emulsion-based polymers, including their production and isolation.

Lately, he has added a working knowledge in polymeric tissue scaffold technology, as a provider of new ideas and projects for the new companies he is associated with.

During his tenure at the Rohm and Haas Company, he first developed several products for engineering resins and PVC, designing the additives from the start and participating as the team leader in various multifunctional groups, as part of the stage-gate process. In the latter part of his corporate career, he added technical service to his responsibilities, where he personally carried out trials and supported the technical service activity worldwide.

After taking early retirement from Rohm and Haas, he has become a consultant for industry and, working through H&C Scientific, is in the process of obtaining three patents from Intellectual Ventures. One of his ideas was selected for special financial support, which is only granted to about 1 % of the projects submitted.

Expert is the author or coauthor of over 40 technical papers, several book chapters, and more than 10 patents. He has done numerous presentations at industrial and academic symposia, in some of them as a keynote speaker. He is a referee for various technical journals and on the advisory board of one of them.

Chemical engineer with a strong polymer and materials science background. Extensive experience in product development and exploratory research. Proven project leader, eager to emphasize a team-based approach to develop new products and generate fundamental understanding. Well-known technical expertise applied in supporting global technical service, especially in the Latin American Region. Coaching, mentoring and training of both technical and non-technical staff. Highly sought-after internal consultant f advice in polymers and plastics and problem brainstorming.
