Request Expert

POLYMERIC MATERIALS; PLASTIC MATERIAL SELECTION. Expert has extremely diverse industrial experience. He has worked at GM as an engineer of plastics and rubber parts and consulted with over 25 companies in the areas of rubber, adhesives, FRP's, plastics, and fiber-related applications. His academic work has resulted in over 100 publications and has focused on polymer crystallization, alloying, rheology, and biodegradation; chemical modification; thermal analysis; piezoelectric polymers; electrically-conducting polymers; non-linear optical polymers; and thermosets. He is familiar with a host of analytical techniques used in this research.

PLASTIC MATERIALS SCIENCE. He has taught most aspects of polymers in a host of courses offered at an American University, both to its students and to participants in short courses. His tenure at the university is 27+ years.

PLASTIC MOLDING PROCESS. Expert has researched all types of plastic molding processes, especially thermoset molding. His expertise also includes extrusion, thermoforming, and thermosetting. He has a U.S. patent in a unique plastic preparation technique.

POLYMERIC MATERIAL FRACTURING. Expert worked for ten years under GRI sponsorship on the mysterious ways in which ordinarily "ductile" polyethylenes would, over a long time, crack in a brittle fashion. He is now working on fracture mechanics of thermosetting resins, which are clearly more brittle.

THERMOSETTING MATERIAL. For 20 years, he has been involved in research on thermosets, chiefly epoxies. Emphasis has been on relationships between chemical structure and basic mechanical properties.
