Request Expert

Expert has been involved in power electronics and electric machine development for over 25 years. He has a wide breadth of experience in several sectors: academic, industrial and government.
Throughout his career he has maintained an active consulting practice designing, developing and prototyping a wide variety of power conversion circuitry as well as electric machines.

Prior to attending college, Expert spent four years in the electric motor industry repairing, rewinding and redesigning electric motors.
After his BEE, Expert worked as an electronic design engineer for Black and Decker Corporation in Towson, Maryland, until he began graduate school at the University of Tennessee.

While at the University of Tennessee, he was employed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory were he was involved in the development of high performance axial gap motors and their associated drives.

Expert designed, developed and prototyped a universal input three phase 2kW (240-660) VAC microprocessor based switch-mode power supply. The development included design, schematic capture, simulation, magnetics design prototype build and test.
Expert designed and developed a motion control system for a valve actuator. This effort included redesigning a 300W brushless DC motor, developing a specific form-factor microprocessor based brushless DC drive including 200kHz offline SMPS. Expert designed and performed a FEA of a hybrid switched reluctance motor.
