While being a Technical Marketing Manager at Borden, Mystik tape division, and Scapa tape he visited many end use customers to discuss their applications and gained vast knowledge of applications of all different tapes. Having more than 45 years experience in product development, he developed many adhesive formulations for the new adhesive tape products, which resulted into more than 10 percent of total sales on average. He was in direct contact with the suppliers of the raw materials to have first hand info about the new materials. He procured many new raw materials globally during his work at Scapa and Mystik Tape. Because of his contact with the raw material suppliers he was able to get these materials in a very short period of time. Among many PSA tapes, he developed many different types of transfer tapes as well as Electrical insulation tapes, tapes for aircraft, aerospace and automotive industries, using rubber,acrylics and Silicon PSA, both water base as well as the solvent base adhesives. He was most experienced to have inline process of saturating, release coating and adhesive coating to develop masking tapes while working at Borden Chemical, Mystik tape division. He had written a patent application which was approved, but the employer Borden decided to keep it as a trade secret. While working at Decora, at Scapa and as an independent consultant, he developed label stocks using inline release coating and applying pressure sensitive adhesives to develop many label stock products. He developed medical tapes such as medical diagnostic tapes, silicone gel tapes for scar removal,while working at Scapa. He developed protective masking tape while working at Main Tape and as a consultant for Metaflex in Argentina. Overall he developed many PSA tapes in all areas including using PE, PP and polyester film tapes, paper tapes, cloth tapes, foil tapes and multi laminated tapes. For the last four years he has been a Employer and an additional ten years as a part time consultant. He helped many clients develop many different tape products. He has thorough knowledge of many different films like PE,PP,PET, Polyimide etc. that are most commonly used to make PSA tapes. He developed many primers which were used to anchor to different films and with types of elastomeric and polymeric pressure sensitive adhesives. He selected many different types of silicone adhesives, acrylic adhesives that were ready to be used with or without other additives. Because he was a hands on manager, he was instrumental in writing many test procedures to qualify adhesives, primers and the finished tapes.
