Expert has been involved in the digital printing industry since its inception. She has held senior sales and market roles at a variety of vendors of digital printing equipment, and users of digital printing technologies. She has also written a variety of books on topics related to the migration from analog to digital technologies, both in production printing as well as the workflow surrounding (prepress, job submission, finishing, etc.). She has written extensively on a well-known industry media site for more than a decade, covering new developments in the digital printing market and their anticipated impact on the industry overall, for both suppliers to the industry and service providers within the industry. Expert has also explored in depth digital media as an alternative to print and the impact digital media (web, email, mobile, tablets, smartphones etc.) will have and are having on the printing, publishing and packaging industries.

This includes both electrophotographic/laser printing and ink-jet printing in their various production modes as well as some exposure to office environments particularly as it relates to migrating paper processes to electronic form, outsourcing of printing and related services, migration of volumes from analog processes to digital processes including both printed and non-printed communications, and using mobile apps to enable untethered work environments.

Expert is a recognized thought leader in the digital printing industry and related areas as described above. She continues to maintain familiarity with new products and services being brought to market by suppliers to the industry. She also follows leading companies on the service provider side, often providing insight and consulting services to these industry leaders as the forge a path from an analog to a digital world.

Expert has also worked with, and continues to follow, paper and other substrate companies that offer products for digital printing, new developments in the packaging market that can accommodate the cost-effective production of small lot sizes of folding cartons, labels and flexible packaging, and workflow software that streamlines the production process for both analog and digital production.

Transferring extensive experience in digital printing and workflow from the commercial print arena to the emerging analog-to-digital transformation the textiles & apparel industry is undergoing. Have conducted significant research and written extensively about the technology and workflow associated with textiles and apparel, including printing, lighting, coatings and treatments, environmental impact and more.

As an expert in digital printing, she has studied and forecast the impact that digital printing and associated digital workflow can and will have on conventional printing processes in both the commercial printing and packaging industries. She closely follows both suppliers to these industries as they bring new developments to market and service providers as they implement these new services.

Most recently, Expert has covered and analyzed the impact of "hybrid printing"; that is, digital printing engines that are mounted on an offset press chassis, effectively creating a hybrid device that takes advantage of the benefits of each modality; as well as the impact that production inkjet printing is and will have on conventional offset printing and the impact of digital printing and finishing on packaging production.

Expert is also knowledgeable about the functioning of offset presses, flexographic printing, inks, finishing processes, and color management tools, software and instruments.

She has also written extensively about the impact of cloud computing and mobile communications on the way marketers communicate their messages and consumers receive and respond to those messages, including the use of mobile apps, digital publishing solutions, content aggregation and distribution, and more.

Worked with a major manufacturer of digital printing presses to help them better understand the type of work received by an average commercial printer, how that work is allocated to analog or digital processes, and what new opportunities are available to transfer volume from offset to digital. This information was used as the company was considering how best to bring a new product to market.Created a full, week-long sales training course for a distributor of printing and copying equipment focused on solution selling, the competitive landscape. It included workshops and role playing. Expert and a partner delivered numerous sessions for this client over the period of a year to address training for a large sales force.Conducted a series of focus groups for a large manufacturer of digital printing equipment to determine the value of proposed product upgrades. Expert and a partner provided turnkey services including determining locales and vendors for the groups, developing the discussion guide, cleansing prospective attendee lists, conducting the groups and writing a final report that summarized findings and conclusions.Wrote a major white paper for a manufacturer of digital printing equipment documenting the current and future state of the book printing industry. This report included significant data substantiating the move to short print runs of books and the growing incursion of ebooks on the scene. This white paper is used in the sales cycle by this manufacturer as they work with book and commercial printers.Performed an analysis of the "megaprinters" -- those with revenues of $750,000+ -- for an industry association of manufacturers of equipment, software and consumables. This study, which resulted in a 300-page report, outlined the history of megaprinters, and projected future trends, the impact of those on the industry as a whole, and provided findings and recommendations to manufacturers on how best to modify their business models to address an evolving marketplace.
