Recombinant Protein Expression, Purification, Cell-Based Assay Systems

ID: 722883 Virginia, USA

Request Expert

Expert has expertise is in understanding the basic concepts of receptor-ligand interactions. He notes that this is one of the most fundamental processes present in creatures, from simple “cell-free organisms” such as viruses to complex multiorgan organisms like humans. As most of these interactions involve proteins, Expert has expertise in the biochemistry of proteins involved in such processes. With the availability of the genome sequence of a large number of human pathogens as well as humans, he has worked on exploiting bioinformatical tools for gene selection, cloning, sequencing, and their recombinant expression and purification, utilizing a wide variety of chromatography techniques. He has developed protocols for purification of proteins from inclusion bodies, cytoplasm, periplasm, and culture media. Expert notes that these purified proteins are subsequently characterized for their interactions with other proteins and carbohydrate-based receptors.

Array

Expert has served as an expert for several funding agencies in the U.S. and abroad for evaluation of grant applications requiring expertise on host-pathogen interactions. He serves as a troubleshooter on protein expression and purification problems with several researchers within and outside his institute.
