Expert has over 45 years of experience in the scrap metal industry in management, marketing and operations, new steel fabrication and business brokerage and business development. As a part of a scrap processing facility in St. Louis, he was directly involved in all management aspects of the business while fulfilling multiple positions. Expert's skills were utilized in negotiating collective bargaining agreements, developing continuous improvement processes, finance, human resources, purchasing of raw materials and marketing in addition to oversight of day to day operations of a fully integrated scrap processing facility. He has also served at national scrap processing companies, Azcon Corporation and Prolerized New England Company (now Schnitzer Northeast). In both the companies, he was responsible for multiple facilities, with Prolerized encompassing Boston, Massachusetts to Portland, Maine. Currently, he is also working with many scrap companies to expand and improve their operations. The range of projects encompasses electrification of an existing mega-shredder, a non-ferrous separation system to handle one hundred tons per hour of automobile shredder residue (ASR) and multiple Greenfield and upgraded shredder installations. He has also been implementing programs to enhance productivity through a metrics based incentive pay program in addition to facilitating implementation of the Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS), a Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standard specific to the metal recycling industry that also includes an electronic recycling component, Responsible Recycling (R2). He has been engaged by both plaintiffs and defendants as an Expert Witness on several occasions for both civil and criminal cases. Also, he is a consultant and member of CarbonTech, LLC. Expert received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and an MBA.
Expert has developed and sold programs to companies operating in the scrap metal recycling industry to enhance efficiencies and employee performance. These programs include Production and Downtime Reporting for all operations within a company and the Performance Enhancement Program (PEP), a metrics based incentive pay plan.
