Expert is one of three directors who form a specialist security technology consultancy practice with in-depth and wide-ranging experience in designing and deploying security technology solutions. His consultancy provides effective technical advice based on the understanding of security threats, the associated hazards, and their potential.

Expert has over 25 years of experience within the security industry and has held many senior positions within UK national and global security integrators being responsible for Security Risk and Vulnerability Assessments, Security Planning, and System Design. He has an in-depth knowledge of integrated electronic security and electrical systems having recently designed the entire security system for a newly built prison in Great Britain.

Expert and his team have successfully delivered advice and design information across a broad range of establishments from research facilities to sites of critical national importance. He recently worked on a water treatment plant that fell into this latter category. The electronic security project installed CCTV, Access Control, Intercom, and Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems. Associated with these elements were the system infrastructure, power, control equipment, and integration. The control and human interface of the system is via a Security Management System (SMS) Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows bidirectional operation from both the local site and an off-site control center. Intercom calls are routed across a wide area network and CCTV images provide video verification of alarm events; this enables the entire facility to be controlled from a remote location when necessary.

Expert also has experience with and access to an in-depth technical knowledge of the Norwegian Command and Control application that integrates sensing technology with global information systems which are then combined with predictive algorithms to provide a truly global C2 system.

Expert is a member of ASIS International (American Society for Industrial Security) and also of CSARN (City Security and Resilience Network) currently undertaking CPP (Certified Protection Professional) certification reading, Protection of Assets, Effective Security Management, Security and Loss Prevention, and Management of Information Security.

Expert’s team will provide support in the development and the design of your system. Producing schematics, schedules, interaction matrices, and configuration tables as well as compliance documentation and commercial selection. Their consultants have a wide range of complementary skill sets and experience. Some of their specific core areas of expertise include designing secure perimeters around sensitive and critical sites such as Industrial Gas facilities, CNI Utilities, UK Ministry of Defence sites, High-Security Prisons, and Police Custody facilities.

The firm's project managers hold PRINCE II status and IOSH, CITB, CSCS accreditation and have extensive experience in delivering integrated security systems within tightly managed timelines and budgets. Their approach is to always consider their client’s needs for reliable up-to-date reporting. A combination of relationship building, experience sharing, and technical expertise recently ensured that the British Ministry of Justice took possession of an upgraded Control Room and Perimeter Detection System with the confidence that it was fit for an operational and high profile Establishment.

The purpose of this particular project was to secure a Water Treatment Works with integrated electronic, physical, and procedural security systems.

The project was to provide the site with CCTV, Access Control, and an Intruder Detection system to SEAP Grade 4.

A vulnerability assessment reviewed all parts of the water system and documented potential security weaknesses. This review included all access points to every part of the potable water system. A spreadsheet was produced that identified what can be improved or implemented to prevent access to that item.

This information enabled the production of an Operational Requirements document that formed the basis of the security systems design.

A well-designed electronic protection system, in which the detection technology is matched to the physical barriers not only provides reliable detection of intrusion events but offers the earliest warning of an attempt to enter or of any malicious activity. When establishing a protection system, it is important to consider the operational requirements of the scheme; how to maximize its efficiency, and the operational procedures that support it.

The electronic systems installed were selected to complement the physical and procedural components of the facility and provide a fully integrated, holistic security solution.

Seven principles were established to encompass the whole perimeter protection philosophy. Namely Demarcate, Deter, Detect, Determine, Delay, Displace and Detain.

The technical solution concentrated on the first five “D”s of the philosophy and considered Displace and Detain to be addressed under the facility’s operational security policies.
The purpose of this particular project was to secure an enclave with integrated electronic, physical, and procedural security systems.

The brief was to provide the site with CCTV, Access Control, and a Perimeter Intruder Detection system to SEAP Grade 4.

To facilitate the construction of a new processing plant, it was necessary to first segregate an area for construction by creating a lower security enclave. Contractors were then escorted to the enclave where they were contained by a secure perimeter.

Expert's firm was invited to design the perimeter security system because of our industry-recognized track record in high-end design management. Their role was to provide the technical documentation and manage the process from resource planning to commissioning management.

A clear plan empowered action and provided measurable indicators of success.

By turning the design management of this project into a controlled process, Expert managed and delivered a working design that met all of the project requirements and exceeded the expectations of the customer.

The Design Quality Plan detailed the procedure for design development and review. It summarised the responsibility for the control, monitoring and verification of the design. It provided a consistent approach to the management of the design process and ensured that all of the requirements of the project were met. The purpose of this particular project was to secure the boundary with a Perimeter Intrusion Detection System along with supporting CCTV. The project also upgraded the control room.

The brief was to provide TA services for the installation, test, and commission of the electronic security and control room upgrade.

To facilitate the longevity and ongoing security of the Establishment, it was necessary to replace the old security systems with new technology.

Expert's firm was invited to provide TA services for the installation of the perimeter security system because of our industry-recognized track record in high-end design management. Their role was to provide an inspection and testing regime through design, installation, commissioning, and handover.

A clear plan empowered action and provided measurable indicators of success. By establishing an Inspection & Test Plan they were able to work proactively with the constructor and specialist subcontractor.

The plan documented the relevant MoJ standards along with a program of inspection that followed the construction course.

By turning the design management of this project into a controlled process, Expert managed and delivered a working design that met all of the project requirements and exceeded the expectations of the customer.
