Silicone Chemistry for Sealants and Coatings; Construction Applications of Sealants

ID: 731307 Michigan, USA

Request Expert

Expert has researched and compounded silicone sealants for 40 years. The work involved all known cure chemistries (alkoxy, oxime, acetoxy, amide, amine and enoloxy) applicable to silicones. His work used a wide variety of adhesion promoters and combination of adhesion promoters, fillers and combinations of fillers and cure catalysts. He developed one part and two part products. He then developed applications for these products and became expert at studying durability and developing test methods to prove the applicability of the products to a given application.

He is expert in structural glazing and traveled the globe introducing structural glazing to the world, showing the data to convince governments and architects that it was a viable concept.

He has taught silicone chemistry relative to cure systems, sealant systems, and adhesion.

His full-length book on the use of sealants in construction is an industry standard and has been used as a university text.
