Expert has many years' experience as a social worker, team manager, trainer and consultant in the field of child abuse and child protection. He has also published books and articles about such matters. He was involved in developing a Diploma in Child Protection Studies at a UK university. He
holds a certificate in child protection supervision and has served as an expert witness in court proceedings. He has developed an excellent reputation for promoting learning in the area of child abuse and protection.

He is recognized as a leading author and thinker on the UK social work scene. With 37 years' experience and 34 books to his name, he is a sought-after
training facilitator, consultant and conference speaker. His ideas have proven very influential, particularly in relation to equality and diversity. His work is widely quoted by other authors and researchers. Several of his books are bestsellers and very popular with students in particular. His work on equality and diversity has proven to be especially influential.
Expert is the co-editor of an influential workplace well-being book. He is also the editor of a major website and zine (bulletin) concerning this topic. He is interested in applying social work
knowledge, skills and values to the workplace to promote more effective and more humane workplaces. He has written extensively about workplace stress and related matters and has been involved in research, teaching, training and consultancy about workplace issues.

He has written extensively about loss, grief and trauma, especially in the workplace, and he is a member of the prestigious International Work Group on
Death, Dying and Bereavement (membership is by invitation only and restricted to recognised leaders in the field).
He is a qualified mediator and has extensive experience of dispute resolution, conflict management and team building. All his work - writing, teaching, advising - is based on a commitment to promoting equality and valuing diversity. He has several leading publications in this area.

Expert helped the Care Council for Wales review the learning needs of the residential child care workforce in Wales. Expert has been involved in helping a private agency that specilises in supporting traumatised children to develop publishable training materials based on their innovative work. Expert coordinated a team of investigators involved in helping a London borough respond to a crisis brought about by an unprecedented level of complaints of racial discrimination. Expert helped several private companies develop equality and diversity policies as part of a Welsh Development Agency project. Expert coordinated a project involving four universities in order to develop teaching resources relating to postqualifying work in child welfare.
