Expert has 39 years experience as a soil scientist, pedologist and agronomist. He has conducted hundreds of field studies to investigate soils, deploying various sampling methods and equipment. He has conducted scores of field experiments in dryland cropping systems. These include trials on tillage, plant nutrition, soil water, soil management, and soil sampling. Expert has experience in the production of wheat, barley, oats, canola, mustard, peas, garbanzo beans sunflower, camelina, flax, and other dryland crops.

Expert is licensed to handle neutron moisture meters containing radioactive sealed sources. He provides advice to farmers and those that advise farmers. He has approximately 200 direct individual clientele contacts annually and in group settings, clientele contacts exceed 2000 annually. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications in journals or extension publication.

Expert has advised individual growers, public institutions and private business on correcting soil pH. This includes both acid and alkaline soil condition. He has authored publications on the soil pH and correcting soil pH.

He has worked for more than 25 years with canola (rapeseed) (Brassica napus and Brassica rapa) on production, processing, and marketing of whole seed, canola meal and canola oil. He is cooperatively responsible for the release of 3 canola cultivars. He has advised on small and larger scale canola crushing plants and the production of biodiesel from vegetable oil. He is very familiar with the fatty acid profiles of canola and other vegetable oils.

Expert has worked in dryland wheat cropping systems for more than 25 years. He has advised producers on tillage practices, fertilizer application and nutrient management on winter and spring wheat and hard and soft wheat. He has been responsible for the education of growers and consultants on wheat and oilseed production practices and on best management practices to reduce erosion and minimize runoff.
